Mukono-Uganda: In a startling turn of events, lawyers (Kajubi & Co. Advocates) representing the Tian Tang Group, a Chinese company operating at Mbalala, Mukono district, have demanded the removal of our recent story that exposed alleged human rights violations within their steel plant premises.
The story, which gradually gained viral attention across various media platforms, sheds light on distressing incidents and raised serious concerns about the welfare and safety of workers.
The original story titled: Tian Tang Group: Where Factory Work Accidents Are Concealed As Road Accidents, published on June 24, 2023, and accompanied by a 10-minutes video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gM4h72Z0IxI, revealed a dark and sinister reality within the Tian Tang Group steel plant in Mbalala industrial park.
It unveiled a series of tragic accidents resulting in the untimely deaths of workers, allegedly due to oppressive working conditions and a lack of safety measures. Additionally, the story exposed a disturbing pattern of disposing of bodies to cover up the true nature of these incidents.
The demand to pull down the story comes at a time when public interest and attention are focused on worker rights and safety. In the editorial statement issued by The Insight Post-Uganda, it went on to reach out to the Tian Tang Group management for their response and clarification on the allegations. One of the company’s lawyers gave us a comment to balance our story.
