Parliament resumes business today
Parliament of Uganda will today afternoon resume plenary sittings after a long festive season recess.
According to the official statement released by the Clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesige Kasaija, the 2nd sitting of the 3rd meeting of the 2nd session of the 11th Parliament of Uganda plenary sittings will resume today Tuesday 17th January 2023 at 2:00pm
Referring to the days’ notice of business to follow on the house order paper, there will be a second reading of The Employment [Amendment] Bill, 2022 and The National Legal Aid Bill, 2022.
Some of the key issues to be addressed by the house include; Adoption Of The Report Of The Committee On Environment And Natural Resources On The Emergency Total Shutdown Of Isimba Hydropower Plant by the Chairperson, Committee On Environment And Natural Resources, Motion For Adoption Of The Report Of The Committee On Education And Sports On The Matter Of Phasing Out Of Comprehensive Nursing Certificate And Diploma Courses By The Ministry Of Education And Sports, and Presentation Of A Petition Of Uganda Women Parliamentarians Association On Escalating Cases Of Maternal Mortality by Hon. Achieng Sarah Opendi.
Ministers will also respond to Urgent Question On The Merging Of Police Stations And Posts In The Regions Of Greater Buganda – Except Greater Masaka, The Performance Of The National CCTV Project, On The Murder Of The Acting Chief Administrative Officer – Bukwo District and many other pertaining issues in the country.
