RUKIGA: The Rukiga district administration block was on Thursday 30th March 2023 commissioned after a prolonged period of its construction

The building which started during the 2016-2021 Regime, under the Leadership of Mr. Kampikaho as the district Chairperson became static for almost four years upon the completion of the first floor in 2018.

While commissioning the Administration block, the Rukiga district LC V Chairperson Robert Kakwerere who was singing and dancing Jubilation songs said, he was extremely happy to see a building which had caused public uproar commissioned.

Mr. Robert Kakwerere appreciated the woman member of Parliament Hon Caroline Kansiime Muhwezi for lobbying the last potion of money 500 million that were used to complete the Building and commended the former district leadership for having started the building.

The Rukiga Deputy Resident district commissioner (D/RDC) Mr. Kansiime Zadoch representing the Hon Woman MP said, the district Headquarters is becoming big and beautiful because of the good and visionary leaders at all levels. He commended whoever played a role in establishing the district Headquarters

“I want to appreciate every individual who has done anything to see this building here, and for those who will be using it please use it diligently, this is a government property” said by Kansiime Zadoch.

Peter Nkurunungi the director Gesis Uganda and the Contractor said, he was able to complete the Block in 4 month which was given in the timeline of construction.

The former district council had resolved to construct a three storied building, but the current council ordered for a report on status of the building from an independent engineer whose report showed that the building could no longer hold other two floors up, it had spent a long period of time on the ground floor and had become critically destroyed by rains. The council then resolved to have a two storied administration block.

In attendance was the District Speaker Hon Oscar Akampurira, Dec Members, LC III Chairpersons and Mayors, Technical staff led by the district Principal Assistant secretary Mr. Gideon Tumwesigire and some few District councilors.

Rukiga District is a mountainous boot-shaped wedge in South Western Uganda, bordered on the Noth Rukungiri District, on the East by Ntungamo District, on the South East by the Republic of Rwanda, on the South West by Kabale District and on the North West by Rubanda District.
