MASAKA DIOCESE: In an effort to spread the mission to hard to reach areas of Masaka Diocese, the management of Centenary Bank has donated a Yamaha Sport 125CC motorcycle to Bukasa Parish in Ssese Islands.

The Motorcycle was handed over to the Bishop Of Masaka Diocese Severus Jjumba by the Centenary Bank Masaka Branch Manager Mr. Deogratius Mutebi at the bank branch in Masaka City who will deliver it to the Parish Priest in Bukasa, Kalangala District.

Upon receiving the Motorcycle, Bishop Jjumba said the motorcycle will help the priests in Bukasa Parish because they have not had any transportation to spread the mission in the islands of Bukasa in Kalangala District

“My first time to visit Bukasa Parish i observed that the entire Parish had no means of transport apart from the two motor vehicles owned by the Orthodox church Priest Fr. Christopher Walusimbi and the area LCIII chairperson. Our two Priests in the Parish had no transport. We commend Centenary Bank for this contribution to the Lord’s Mission,” Bishop Jjumba said.

Centenary Bank Masaka Branch Manager Deogratius Mutebi, said they had been forced to fulfill this responsibility in response to the request made by the Bishop of Masaka.

“Through corporate social responsibility, the bank accepted the Bishop’s call and delivered the Motorcycle which will help to serve the Lord,” he said

The 2 year old Bukasa Catholic Parish was curved from Bumangi Parish in 2021 to cater for four Island Sub Counties of Bubeke, Kyamuswa, part of Bufumira and Mazinga islands Sub Counties in Kalangala District to enhance spiritual growth of islanders

By then, Kalangala had one Catholic Parish of Bumangi in Mugoye Sub County which was overseeing all Catholic spiritual activities in 84 islands of Kalangala.

Currently, Bukasa Catholic Parish which is under the administration of Rev. Fr. John Fisher Kiyimba the Parish Priest and Rev. Fr. Kato Benedict harbors in two classroom blocks helping to house the Parish church, offices and the Priests home.

Recently, when the Bishop of Masaka visited the Parish, he laid a foundation stone to the construction of the Parish church and other administration units.
